Ol' Factory Rehearsals

We've been holding our weekly rehearsals at Morgan Christopher's Ol' Factory Cafe in Sand City for the past couple of months instead of at my photo studio. The thought was to bring the interesting interaction of a rehearsal to a public space so our fans, friends and the general public could witness the process while enjoying a nice meal and/or a beer or a glass of wine. As usual, Morgan has created a very open, friendly and creative space (he previously operated Morgans Coffee & Tea and Cafe Noir), and the band has been enjoying the fruits of his labor.

Biff continues to blow us all away with his amazing composition skills and his creative titles. His latest, "Fanny Fangboner's Fortuitous Flight of Fancy," is not only a mouthful but also one his best tunes to date. It's yet another waltz, which seems to be a very "common" time signature (pun intended) in his writing, so much so that we're considering an album of just waltzes. The problem will be narrowing it down to only twelve tunes.

Whoa - so I get to be the first comment. Cool!

Bri - Howdy!

We will miss First Night Monterey this year, but I'm thrilled to see that you have a new Cd out - I will order it in the next few days. Can't wait to hear it!

I regularly listen to your two other CDs, and force friends and complete strangers off the street to listen as well. (well, not quite...)

Dear ABC:

I've about played the tracks off your last two albums, and desperately hope that you'll re-issue your first someday for those of us who missed out. It's great news that you're considering yet another winner soon. Can't wait.

In the meantime, we'll drive all the way from the Central Valley to catch a rehearsal at the Ol' Factory until we can manage a gig in the Monterey area. ABC is a dream for all us hard bop fans from the early days. Don't ever stop.
